#1: Why working hard is a bad strategy
Working hard leads to burnout.
The work you’re doing may require a great deal of effort. But what makes it "feel" hard are the unpleasant emotions you carry while doing the work. So, in essence, working hard it’s a bad strategy.
Your body and mind use more energy when working with boredom, anxiety, anger, stress, worry, and guilt.
These unpleasant emotions take the joy out of work. Then, to make things worse, you seek relief in unhealthy ways. You do that by seeking comfort with food, drinking, smoking, or procrastinating.
That's why being intentional about working joyfully pays high dividends.
Joyful workers can work for long hours at ease and fully immersed in their work. Sometimes they're even surprised by how long they've been working!
So why work hard—when you can work joyfully.
